Module 2: Wheels Brakes and Chains
Bike Walk Indian River County, Inc's Bike Rehab Project is presenting a series of bike maintenance classes in 2022. All classes are open to the public on a first come first serve basis. Class size is limited. Pre-registration is required.
This second class will cover the following topics relating to wheels, brakes and chains:

- Replacing Broken Spokes
Rim Brakes
- Rim Brake Type
- Evaluating Brake Shoe Condition
- Brake Shoe Replacement
- Adjusting Brakes
Disc Brakes
- Hydraulic Versus Mechanical
- Pad Evaluation, Removal and Installation
- Rotor Issues
- Caliper Alignment
Chain
- Cleaning and Lubing
- Checking Wear
- Replacing Worn Chain
- Chain Sizing
- Working With Master Links
Classes will be held outside at BWIRC's warehouse located directly behind Orchid Island Bikes and Kayaks, just off 12th Street in Vero (just west of the US 1 WaWa). Anyone who is not fully vaccinated and boosted must wear a mask.
Riding to the class is encouraged so that you will have your bike with you. Having your bike at the class may help your understanding of the material being presented.
If you drive a car to the class, please park in the Dollar Tree/Staples parking lot across Commerce Avenue as onsite parking is very limited. If you drive to the class you may still want to bring your bike with you.
